Yesteray, the news broke that I would be illustrating one of my favorite characters in three issues of Punisher War Journal starting in November with #13. You can read interviews I did on the subject at Newsarama and Wizarduniverse. While over at CBR, they have an article with myself and the amazing Dave Stewart discussing the project. There's preview art to be seen as well.
Thanks for looking, everyone.

Those two preview pages blew me away. You never cease to amaze!!
Looking forward to see your issues! Can't wait to see what other comics you'll turn up on next?
Me again (above).
Why don't you do a few inked sketches instead of pencils?
You mentioned it in your interview, thought this'd be a good place to put some out.
Your designs, pencils, and pages on this project are awesome. the Rhino design is perfect.
Well, there's three more dollars I'll be spending at the comic shop each month...
That is one wild gun. I wish Punisher looked older, but you do a great job on him.
I'll be buying and talkin' 'em up!

I can't wait!
Can't wait to see the differences in technical vs organic.
-Donal.
Do I detect a hint of Cory Walker in the face of this particular drawing of Frank Castle? I love how huge you make his arms, can't wait to read it.
jumping on the band wagon of WOOHOO!
peace out
I love that sketch and you do a frigging great Rhino. What the hell was up with that guy who said that you were slow and bad at drawing things, though?
I bet this is what you look like in person.
In fact, there is no doubt in my mind that this is what you look like in person.
That's not a wild gun, that's a super soaker!
Nice sketch, Cory. Looking forward to your run. Linked ya.
Dude, I am so happy for you! I can't believe you get to work with Fraction! That guy's stuff is great. I'm really looking forward to what you guys do with the book. From what you said in the interview and from what I saw in the preview art, this is some new stuff for you and it's going to be great! Dave is doing an incredible job from what it looks like, too. Again, I'm really looking forward to this. I may have to say screw the HC and jump in on issues for it.
I take everything back about prefering your sketches to your finalised pieces. Your Punisher is PERFECT. The exact ammount of details, no clutter... Just STYLE!
Gonna get my hands on this book if it kills me.
Hugz,
HvH
this is great news.
war journal is one of the most fun new marvel books in a while, and i think it's a great fit.
can't wait to see more.
This is incredibly cool news, Cory! Perhaps now you'll finally believe in your talents the way the rest of us have for years, eh? :-)
Seriously though, best of luck to you with this new 'job'. I can't wait to see how your page turn out in November. The sketches look incredibly cool!
The preview art looks amazing, Cory!!
Thanks for the kind words, everyone. The response to this news has been largely positive with only one or two negative Nancys. It's a great feeling knowing that I've got the support of you folks.
Anonymous- I've considered doing ink sketches in the past, and my main issue is that if I am to start that, I want it to be in a place, numerically, that makes sense to me. Maybe entry #250 will see the beginning of some ink drawings. We'll see. I know it seems silly, but I need some kind of organization for the most part.
Guillermo- I feel that I should mention that I DID NOT design this look for the Rhino, he's appeared with the more "armored" look in every instance that he's been in Punisher War Journal so far, so any credit for making him look cool should go to Ariel Olivetti.
Chris- Punisher in the regular Marvel universe isn't as old as the character in the MAX title. I was told to draw Frank younger, so you get him younger. I mean, people interpret it how they want, but really, Punisher MAX and Marvel Proper Punisher aren't the same character. How could they be?
Craig- Thanks for that, sir.
Donal- Well, we'll see if I can pull it off, anyway.
Axel- ugh. Not on purpose, but yeah, I can see it.
RLS- Thanks. I dunno what that guy's problem is, but he talked shit when I did an interview for my issues of Ant-man as well. It's okay, though, I'm not bothered.
Zach- I look exactly like this in person.
Mike- I KNEW when I was drawing it that someone was going to call that gun a super-soaker, and yet, I went through with it anyway. Thanks a lot, jerk!
Alyssa- Shut up!
Excellent! I'm pleased as punch (whatever that means) to get some GREAT news today...coming back to work sucks, so now I have something to look forward to.
Keep at it, mate.
