Happy New Year, turds.

Thursday, November 12, 2009

Oh my gawd, y'all. Just wanted to let folks in the Lexington, KY area know that the guys at Collectibles, etc. will be raffling off the sketch covers that I did for them at their BLACK FRIDAY MEGASALE. Look at the flyer and use your internetting skills to find your way there! You'll be like Nathan Drake!

Sketch Cover: Balmer Destroyer

Hi. Here's another sketch cover. This one comes from the Baltimore con, though, not a comic shop in Lexington, KY. It's one of a few commissioned drawings that I didn't have time to finish up at the show that I brought home with me. I figure I'll post scans of them all in the following days, so check back often. Next up is another Destroyer. Exciting!!

Sketch Cover: Zombie? Okay

Well, it's supposed to be a zombie, but it's lips aren't chewed off, and there's not a giant hole in his head, so nobody can tell.

This one was fun, though. Like Lady Deadpool's gun, I only did some basic structure work in pencil then pulled out the pens and went to town, which is something that I don't do often.

And that's that.

Sketch Cover: Deadpool

It's a deadpool. A LADY Deadpool. BURN!

That gun really irks me, but cut me some slack, aside from a pencil outline, I totally free-handed that shit in ink. It was the last bit I did, and I was ready to be finished. Sorry.

I'll post the last one whenever I want.

Sketch Cover: Haunt

There's that Haunt I was telling you about. Yawn

I may post the next one a little later today. It's a Deadpool.

Sketch Cover: Cable

Hi. A while back I posted an Invincible sketch cover that I did for my friends at Collectibles, etc. in Lexington, KY. I did five sketch covers total, and figured it would be worth posting them on the ol' blog.

Some of you may have already seen these elsewhere. Sorry.

The second of the five, as you see above, is Cable. Come back tomorrow for a mediocre Haunt drawing.

ALSO: Guys. My e-mail address cory at funkotron dot com. If you're interested in buying pages, please shoot me an e-mail. I only have pre-existing art for sale at the moment and I wont' be taking commissions, just so you know. And, hey, pages and covers from Invincible #s 66 and 67 are not currently for sale. I don't know if they will be any time soon. Sorry for not addressing your inquiries sooner.

IMPORTANT: I am SHIT at replying to e-mails. If replying to e-mail was a sport, not only would I not play it, but I probably wouldn't even watch it on tv. That's how bad I am at it. BUT, I will do my best to answer all your questions and get back to you regarding art purchases. I just want you to understand that it will not be immediate.

Hey. What's that over there?!

Wednesday, October 21, 2009

Oh, hi. Invincible #67 came out today, and so ends 7 consecutive months of new Cory Walker comics. It's sad that that's a big deal to me, right? Yeah, I thought so.

Also, Baltimore was swell. I drank in the bar from Homicide.

I will have some sketch cards for sale and I will also be doing sketches for $dollars.cents. I'll also have copies of Invincible 66, just in case you come by and might need one for something. I hope to see you there(I don't). ;(

Love you.

INVINCIBLE 66 (pic not related)

SO, today saw the release of my first issue of Invincible in 6 years. Pretty wild, right? You can see a nine page preview(yikes, that's almost half the book!) here.

Handling coloring duties is none other than Dave McCaig, a personal favorite of mine, and he'll be back for issue 67 as well. I actually got the final colors for #67 the other day, and they're amazing. Dave outdid himself, as hard as that is to believe after seeing issue #66, but seriously, he's awesome.

With these two issues of Invincible and the five-issue Destroyer mini before them, I will have new work in stores for 7 consecutive months, which, as sad as it is, has NEVER happened before. I don't even know what my previous record was. Two?

I'm back to work on creator-owned properties for now, some familiar and some all-new. I'll try to be better about updating this blog and keeping youse guys in the know. I may even drop in some sneak peeks here and there.

Love you.

Great Expectations

It's been a while since I've actually posted some art on here that's not part of a colored and lettered preview of an issue, or of a cover that I didn't even draw, so here's a little peek at things to come.

Love that Brick. He's awesome.

Thanks for looking.

Boris Grishenko Is

Robert Kirkman and I talked with CBR about my two-issue return to Invincible here.

In the interview I scream out "Spider-man Loves Mary Jane" when talking about books I've worked on. I corrected myself, because I MEANT Web of Romance which I did with Tom Beland, but I'm a dipshit and said the wrong thing and the correction didn't make it to print, so I just wanted to clear that whole thing up. That was a run-on sentence. It's kind of understandable, right? I mean, it's not like I yelled out DARK WOLVERINE when I meant Web of Romance. Anyone could make that mistake, right? Sigh.

p.s. The above image is my cover for the Invincible Scriptbook, and has nothing to do with my two issues, fyi.

EDIT: The article has been edited. Saved myself the embarrassment of anyone ever finding out! Phew! DARK WOODGOD

So, last night on Attack of the Show, Blair Butler broke the news of my return to Invincible for a two-part story in issues 66 and 67. Above is my cover for issue 66 colored by the super-amazing Fco Plascencia.

See the Fresh Ink clip from last night's show here.

Lastly, yes, I know you prefer Ryan, I do too. Relax, it's just two issues.

King of the Night Time World

DESTROYER #3 (of 5)
Destroyer at long last comes face--to--face with his most hated enemy--the dreaded SCAR! While Destroyer was hunting down and murdering his villains, Scar set his sights on him! The hunter becomes the hunted! Surgeon General's Warning: Reading Destroyer may cause spontaneous human combustion -- THIS BOOK IS HOT!
32 PGS./Explicit Content ...$3.99

...also, sadly, I won't be updating daily any longer. This must come as a shock, after a two week absence, I'm sure. I got some wicked strep throat that took me out of commission for a while, and I missed several days, so I just focused on getting caught up on my work, so no daily sketches. It wasn't going too well, anyway and had already become more of a chore than it should have been.

On the bright side, maybe now Newt and I will get around to some cockfight fun.

This was going to be Black Ghost, but it's not.

Sunday, March 01, 2009

Thanks for nothing, Hogwart.

So, ever since I posted my sixth entry this year, a picture I drew of Hoggle that I was happy with until I actually looked at a picture of Hoggle again after drawing it, I've wanted to take another shot at it. Luckily, with the help of my Hoggle doll, I managed a better likeness this time around.

...and yes, once again I'm playing with the Pentel brush pen. A Pentel correction pen was also involved.
Pentel. Pentel pentel.

Friday, February 27, 2009

I got a Pentel brush pen that I've been scribbling on my scripts with so I decided maybe I'd scribble with it in my sketchbook instead. The above sketch is the result of that (as was yesterday's post). Unlike the script sketches, this one had a quick pencil underdrawing. Below is an example of what I've been doodling on the scripts instead of drawing from them. :(

Eh, it's something different, right?
